From the bus stop, follow the entry lane to the hotel, but continue past it, taking the back exit off the grounds and continuing along the road (passing a small shop and coffee place). Follow the gravel road/broad track to the Giardino Botanico and the signs to Piano del Valasco and Rifugio Questa. The track gets steeper, finally reaching a small plane with the small, but pleasant Rifugio Questa.
From Rifugio Questa, it is basically a level path to Lago di Claus and Lago inferiore di Valscura. From the lake, the trail goes up to the Colletto di Valscura and from there down; soon, you will start seeing Rifugio Malinvern, in the upper valley near the river.
